Soil & “Pimp” Session did it again ! Actually I was surprised to see them releasing their album but actually it’s been a year since their “Planet Pimp” album. I first saw them at Java Jazz Festival in Indonesia, couple months ago and been a fans since then. Anyway, the album, for me personally is much better than Planet Pimp, it is more raw more energetic, more Soil and Pimp if I may say than their last album. Planet Pimp is great album, but for me is doesn’t have the same energy as their other albums, so for me “6″ is their answer to that. ‘6′ was chosen as their album title for couple of reasons. So couple months ago I tried my luck and my digital illustration skill to compete in the t-shirt design competition that ran by Graniph. The first prize is a big one IDR 90 million if I’m not mistaken. Here is the tricky part I remembered that I didn’t have enough confident in myself to win that competition you know. I had my doubt. I know that my design is not that bad, but I was thinking “…is it enough to compete with the whole world?…”. Read the full post

Whoa, so I’ve been lazy, well not lazy its just that my work load been crazy these past months, so I haven’t had any chance to  work. I love jazz, really, I just don’t feel like to come to jazz festival, but last week, like I said, my wife forced me and I’m lovin it, I am definately is going if there’s a festival again. 24 hours is not enough. My work as an art director of a web agency is dealing with design, UI, UX of a website, and sometimes you can have 2 to 3 deadlines (either for pitching or getting the work to programmer or get it online) in the time frame of 3 days, is not happen a lot but it happened. I know maybe some of you agree to what I say others might say that 24 hours is what we got. There were couple of times where I found my self stuck in my work and the clock is ticking, the deadline is nearer as the clock keeps ticking and ticking and even though you finished right on time the result is not at your best level, but hey deal with it. Damn! My favorite design studio / agency is ‘dead’. I didn’t knew whether that’s true or not but as of  Tuesday, 20th January 2009, tDR is closed for business. tDR was proclaimed as the ‘Most Copied Studio’ and one of the influential studio in their 2o years of career. I believe that! tDR has influenced so many designers in the world, including me. How they maximize the use of Helvetica in their work. They really influence me. I had the pleasure of talking and meeting Ian Anderson in 2005 on a design conference in Singapore, we talked and discuss, with other fellow designer, it was great and fun time. Yesterday, Saturday 24th, my wife bought me a batik dress, but it’s not any kind of  batik dress or shirt you see everyday, it is solid black colored, with ‘chinese’ neck type, just a small part that shows batik printing colored dark grey. Basically if you see the batik shirt it’s all black, very nice, elegant and it looks good on me. Then, I look at the price tag, it is expensive, more expensive than what I currently thought. So I ask myself, ‘how can they put so much price on this very simple dress’, the batik print is so small, so how can they charge me so much? I know a hand print batik on silk can be so expensive. Whoa! U2 is going to launch their brand new album on March 2nd 2009 (March 3rd on the US) and I think the rest of the world soon after that. U2’s brand new album is titled “No Line on The Horizon”. “Get On Your Boots” the first single, will be released as a digital download on February 15th with a physical format to follow on February 16 through Mercury/Universal.
